I love this book!
The characters are all kinds of diverse - ethnicities and physical abilities!
There's a dog!
It focuses on reading!
And the author tells us a about therapy dogs!
With libraries and schools offering "Reading with Rover" programs, this book feels like a fun introduction for them.I love this book!

I loved this book about 3 families in different periods of time and different countries who all had to leave their homes and their countries for different reasons.
One family leaves Nazi Germany in 1939.
One family leaves Cuba in 1994 trying to get to the United States.
One family leaves Syria in 2015.
These family's stories are based on real events in history and in the back the author gives us the information about the historical events.
It's a novel for teens but I hope many adults also read this novel to get a better understanding of history and current events.I loved this book about 3 families in different periods of time and different countries who all had to leave their homes and their countries for different reasons.

Sometimes people are judged by what we can see. We can't see someone's mind. We can't know what and how they're thinking.
Melody has Cerebral Palsy - she's in a wheel chair - she can't speak. She can't let us know that she is very, very smart. But her family and her neighbor believes in her and help her to find a way to let the world know.Sometimes people are judged by what we can see. We can't see someone's mind. Can you imagine being 8 years old and smarter than everyone you know - even your teacher? But you're still 8 years old and want to do 8 year old things. And your Dad doesn't understand and thinks you only want to read "educational" books - not fun ones!

Nothing at All by Wanda Gag received the Caldecott Award in 1942 - the same year the King County Library System was formed.
The simple illustrations and wording tell the story of three dogs - two we see, one we can't. The two we see, are found by a boy and girl who take them home. But our poor little invisible one is left behind as it can't keep up.
Happily, it is found by a Jackdaw who has a magic book that has a section with instructions for "he who is Nothingy, yet wishes to be Somethingy"Nothing at All by Wanda Gag received the Caldecott Award in 1942 - the same year the King County Library System was formed.

A fun picture book about the zoo that is a song - from a little-known (to me anyway) Broadway Musical from 1960: "Do Re Mi"

This is one of my favorite stories that fits beautifully in thinking about engineering. The family is trying to get to the water on a hot Summer day, but one thing after another goes wrong. The young engineers come up with some great problem-solving that will make you laugh and wish that their ideas would really work.

The piggies do their best to help save the day as any Hero should, but they sometimes don't get things just right - just like we all do in our own lives!

A panda and doughnuts, a surprising combination. Is he sharing? Is he not?
A good story for learning the importance of the word "please."

Four friends - 3 quiet, 1 loud off for an adventure in the woods. They do have a plan but the loud member of the group has a unique approach that leads to surprising results. I think my Family Story time will love this one.

This takes the traditional song and turns it into a fun guessing game of what and how different animals are. (hoppy, sloppy, growly, flappy)

It's nice to know that at least one town in the South had a mostly peaceful transition to integration during the Civil Rights Movement.
This is a great read for children and adults alike to remember this time in history. And maybe it will plant more seeds of freedom and peace at a time when struggles are still occurring. It's nice to know that at least one town in the South had a mostly peaceful transition to integration during the Civil Rights Movement.
