The beginning and middle of the book was exciting, suspenseful, a real page turner. However, something did not sit right with me about the ending, which felt quite abrupt and a bit contradictory. I left feeling like I didn't know what message the story was trying to communicate. The beginning and middle of the book was exciting, suspenseful, a real page turner. It seems this is the only Hardy Boys item in the new Hardy Boys series I can find on EPL's site, possibly due to maintenance. This series is crazy, I love it.

A good read that'll last a long time. lots of stuff to do if you're bored. If I have nothing to do I can refer back to it, and it's also a good conversation starter. Although I would like Bart King to just write a general, gender free "THE BIG BOOK OF FUN STUFF", since he is a very fun writer and would like to see more general stuff by him. One of my favourite points about this book in specific is it isn't long and monotone or sound like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... instructions. His voice is clear and it sounds like the author is just talking to a friend.A good read that'll last a long time. lots of stuff to do if you're bored. Barely any good jokes like the first three. Skip this one and The Ugly Truth and go to number eight.

The Ugly Truth and The Third Wheel had been really bad, so naturally my expectations for this book were low. Like, really low. But because the first few books were so good, I had to read it anyways. So of course, that meant I had to drag myself over to the shelf where I picked the book up, looked it in the eyes like "you'd better make a good comeback for this series or else", trudged to the front desk, checked it out, and began letting my eyes rip the words from the pages and put them into my brain. And if my brain liked it, it would make me laugh. And if my brain didn't like it, it would make me feel bad for ever picking it up because I knew now that I would have to return it for the next person to be plagued with the burden of knowing this series is dead and not worth reading anymore.
And I had completely the wrong idea.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Hard Luck, may not be a perfect book, but compared to the books that were before it, i can see it is definitely an improvement, moving back towards Greg's original character. While the whole "luck" theme wasn't exactly something I could see him doing in the first book, it was the cause for most of the humour, and the rest seemed to fit well. I finished it in a day, like most Wimpy Kid books, but although it may not be Jeff's best writing, I'm generous enough to give it four stars simply because there is a flickering light of hope in the distance that is signalling morse code that says "I am a light of hope, and I am signalling morse code because I'm cool like that". And thankfully, it is getting brighter. The Ugly Truth and The Third Wheel had been really bad, so naturally my expectations for this book were low. Like, really low. Not nearly as good as the first three, in fact I can't even remember what happened in this one. I was done in one day, and his character has changed quite dramatically from the first book, from a person who just wants to look cool to someone who believes in magic and Santa Claus. Not nearly as good as the first three, in fact I can't even remember what happened in this one. While its humour may be considered "toilet talk" by adults, I acknowledge that I am not the target audience, yet I still get a good chuckle out of all Dav Pilkey's books. This is where his jokes really shine through. The visuals and short chapters will keep even the most reluctant children to reading hooked. I always would beg my Mom to read two chapters rather than one. In fact, perhaps maybe that's a downside - it's a little bit short. But just let your guard down and then it'll be good! While its humour may be considered "toilet talk" by adults, I acknowledge that I am not the target audience, yet I still get a good chuckle out of all Dav Pilkey's books. This, in my opinion, is among Andrew Clement's best books, right up there with Room One. And I'd be as courageous as to say it is far better than Frindle. However, once again, it is for young readers, so the vocab is rather simplified. This book, having been an entry in the YRCA, was my introduction to Andrew Clement's mysterious writing, which in my opinion is better than his most well known book, Frindle. The book had you guessing what was going to happen. Will it be this, will it be that? This IS a young readers book and as such the writing is quite simplified, but I enjoy it still even though I know it is way below my level. Also see The Janitor's Boy, which is similar. This book, having been an entry in the YRCA, was my introduction to Andrew Clement's mysterious writing, which in my opinion is better than his most well known book, Frindle. Wow! I read this in grade 5 and frankly, now, I find it hard to believe this was written by Haddix. I mean, she really specializes in creating horrific scenes with her writing, but none of that is here. But for me that is actually a good thing, since horror stories, well, freak me out. This story, rather, is about ethics. I don't want to go into too much detail, because I don't want to give away the story's big plot twist - but it is a good read, definitely not a waste of time.Wow! I found it really hard to form a picture in my head of what's going on, and usually I can do that with ease. I found the story hard to follow given that it is told from three different perspectives. As much as I love books and regret saying this, I take no pleasure in admitting that the movie was better than the book. At least then, I could tell what was supposed to be happening. It's an interesting story nonetheless, but difficult to read, especially as it is branded for young readers.I found it really hard to form a picture in my head of what's going on, and usually I can do that with ease. The intro may be confusing, but it is interesting already. Just need to get past the first few pages. I am not yet done but this book has peaked my interest in our class's novel study, and explores the topics of empathy and prejudice. Keep in mind it is written in the 1960s but is set in the 1930s.The intro may be confusing, but it is interesting already. Just need to get past the first few pages. Partway through the book, a friend asks me if I'm enjoying the read.
I say yes.
They ask me how far I've gotten, and I say I'm at the whale on page 71. Then I realized they didn't have the slightest clue what I was talking about.
Stupid Canned Peas.
Yes, I enjoyed this book. Though it can be emotional, and I'm not a bridge player, I found it easy to understand and follow and the ending wrapped it all up pretty well.Partway through the book, a friend asks me if I'm enjoying the read.

This is a great book and a good mystery. I read it during YRCA and I liked it (that was a while ago). Although I don't know why there is no simalar title, as this is a second book in a series (Mystery of The Frozen Brains will get you started).
