I read this with my 10 year old daughter. We found it boring and couldn't finish it. Although my child is an advanced reader, it was a little hard for my 10 year old (now in fourth grade) to understand.

Really a very good book by this author who wrote one of my favourite tween books last year, When you Reach me. When Peter and his familiy go to Greenland for a research project, he accidentally meets Thea, a girl who lives in an underground alternate world beneath the ice. Good references to global warming and an interesting plot. If you liked City of Embers, give this title a try.
