Divergent is an amazing book, I would definitely recommend it. One of the greatest thing about this book is that you can reread it over and over again, and still not get tired of it. Divergent has some really memorable characters and quotes, as well as an amazing plot. DIvergent is one of my favorite books.

I struggled to finish this book. I found the plot tiresome, and I failed to stay interested in the story or the plight of its characters.

This is one of the very great books I've ever read. I would definitely recommend every book lover to read this because time goes by but you don't ever forget what you really loved reading :)

Beatrice Prior (A.K.A Tris) is a young, 16 year old girl that must make a life changing decision. There are 5 factions: Amity, Candor, Dauntless, Abnegation and Erudite. Tris must pick which one to spend the rest of her life in, living their way, by their beliefs. Encountering many obstacles and meeting remarkably interesting people, she learns a secret that must never escape into anyone’s grasp. Her life depends on it. This dystopian novel is commonly compared to The Hunger Games, due to their similarities. Both books have teens forced into situations that would rather be avoided, carrying out violent acts. There was also talk of it being the new Hunger Games but I honestly doubt it. In ways there is more excitement and originality in Suzanne Collins’ trilogy but I’d have to say Divergent is more intriguing. I know that diverge means to branch off in different directions, or to deviate. So, that being said, Divergent is an excellent choice of title. People who are divergent (such as Tris) fit into more than one faction, deviating from the norm. When reading Divergent, I imagined the city having a grey dull tinge and gloom looming over the people. After watching the preview for the movie, I was severely disappointed. Perhaps, it won’t be as bad as I think. Which is why, I’ll give it a chance. Divergent is an engrossing book that captures you from the very beginning. It’s a must read, especially for those of you who are dystopian fans.

A dystopian tale set in the not too far future about a girl who must choose what she wants to do with her life. Tris' struggle to figure out who she is is relatable, but the plot is a little thin and I would have liked to see her develop more - hopefully the next book will allow for this. However it is a fun read.

I was expecting "Divergent" by Veronica Roth to be similar to "Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. The truth the two are alike, but "The Hunger Games" is more exciting to read. This book was just too drawn and a hundred pages too long for my liking. The length did nothing to further the storyline (which was meager at best). The second half of the book simply did not maintain the momentum created by the first half. I was very disappointed.

Like The Hunger Games, this book was riveting, and involved a lot of violent acts carried out by children. The author explores what it means to be brave - what a true act of courage is. I like the author's conclusion: 31862501592337 31862500062076 a selfless act takes courage. Still, I found myself wishing that the author would give us some sort of firm moral compass instead of a lot of confusion about right and wrong. In the end we are left with no clear idea about how to make good choices - right decisions.

Beatrice lives in a society that is divided into five factions that are dedicated to one trait each. Now that she is sixteen she must choose which of the factions she devotes her life to. Beatrice and the other sixteen year olds have a choice between the Abnegation to be selfless, the Dauntless to be brave, the Candor to be honest, the Erudite to be intelligent and the Amity to be peaceful. Before they decide they must take the aptitude test which will reveal the faction they belong to. Beatrice's results show that she is different than the other sixteen year olds because she qualified for three different factions which made her Divergent so now she has to keep the test results a secret or it can put her life at risk. When it came to the time of the choosing ceremony, Beatrice did not choose to stay Abnegation but instead chose Dauntless. During Dauntless initiation Beatrice (now called Tris) went through physical training and a series of mental simulations. All of the training and challenges Tris had to face whether it was real or in a simulation made her realize that her Abnegation selflessness is what helped her gain Dauntless bravery. Though one question remains for Beatrice. What is Divergent? This book is action packed and full of plot twists and suspense that had me sitting on the edge of my seat every time I turned the page. Veronica Roth's description of Beatrice's point of view was just detailed enough to make me feel like I was the character, living and doing everything she did. If someone in the book was holding their breath I found myself doing the same as if I were in the book. “Divergent” is the perfect title for this book because it has to do a lot with the different factions in the book. Also it is one of the reasons that made me choose this book. A title and plot that makes you think, is always a good read. This is the first book I’ve read by Veronica Roth and I am already a huge fan of hers.
