Summary
Add a SummaryChloe Saunders sees dead people. Yes, like in the films. The problem is, in real life saying you see ghosts gets you a one-way ticket to the psych ward. And at 15, all Chloe wants to do is fit in at school and maybe get a boy to notice her. But when a particularly violent ghost haunts her, she gets noticed for all the wrong reasons. Her seemingly crazed behaviour earns her a trip to Lyle House, a centre for disturbed teens. At first Chloe is determined to keep her head down. But then her room mate disappears after confessing she has a poltergeist, and some of the other patients also seem to be manifesting paranormal behaviour. Could that be a coincidence? Or is Lyle House not quite what it seems…? Chloe realizes that if she doesn’t uncover the truth, she could be destined for a lifetime in a psychiatric hospital. Or could her fate be even worse…? Can she trust her fellow students, and does she dare reveal her dark secret?
Chloe Saunders is your average teenage girl. She lives in Buffalo, with her aunt and attends an art school. She spends time with her friends, talks to boys, that kind of thing. Then she meets a ghost. This ghost is terrifying and grotesque. The interaction sends her into a breakdown, which gets her sent to a group home, Lyle House. Lyle House is for mentally-ill teens who must work through their problems, or at least that is what it is advertised to be. Bizarre situations are occurring at this house, not only with herself, but also with other residents of the house. And no matter how much she tries not to believe it, Chloe sees more ghosts. Through strange events, the secrets everyone is hiding spills out, connections are made, and soon nothing is as it was thought to be. But with secrets.... there are always people who want to keep them quiet.
in this book, the main character is a girl named chloe and she has special powers. because of them , she gets sent to the lyle house with a group of other kids, who also have powers. and im not gonna spoil the end, but it was a very gooooooooood book.

" Do I pass, Dr. Saunders?" -Derek
Derek: "Sure. Go ahead. Take it easy. I'm sure Dad will walk in that door any minute and rescue us. And if he's in trouble? If he needs help? Well, too bad, 'cause that would require effort and you're too busy...chilling."
Just what was going on around here? - Chloe wondering about Lyle House
If I was crazy, I'd be doing more than seeing and hearing people who weren't there. I'd be acting crazy, and I wasn't. Was I?

Comment
Add a CommentI loved this book. My favorite series of all time! The characters are very different and interesting, as well as the story. If you are a ''vampire lover'', well, i'm warning you: there are absolutely no vampires in this book.
Just finished reading this and it was hard to put down. Took me two days and I can't wait to read the next book in the series. It has a different take on the 'I see dead people' story lines in other books. I really like the characters - especially Chloe and Derek. Great plot and twists.
i really liked this book... i like the whole series.. i also love how its a trilogy and not a "many-book-series". i would definitely recommend it for people who like the whole SCI-FI genre
I read this book in less than 3 days! I couldn't get my eyes off the book until I finished!
after reading the description and comments, i really wanted this to be a good book. sadly it wasn't the best i found it slow and boring some parts were good though
AMAZING BOOK !!!! I can't wait to read the whole series :D.
I found this book to be incredibly slow and dull. It started off well, but deteriorated very quickly. I just didn't find any of the characters sufficiently interesting to really care what happened to them. And the story didn't seem to add anything to the paranormal genre. IMO, there are much better YA paranormal series out there, like Shade, Hex Hall, Need, Wicked Lovely, and Born at Midnight.
I found this book a bit juvenile initially; however, the plot line picks up towards the end. It is definitely worth your while to continue with Armstrong's trilogy- the other two novels are action packed.
I was surprised on how this book has lead into an amazing scene. Cant wait to read the series.
Love Love Love the books!
