The book that I just finished is called "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins a science fiction/fantasy book. The main idea in this book is that during the 74th hunger game Katniss's sister Prim got chosen to be in the hunger game. First of all hunger game mean is when you get chosen you have to fight other district's in order to win. The reason why Katniss didn't want Prim to go to the hunger game because Prim doesn't know completely how to hunt and survive but Katniss does that's why she substitute for her sister. Katniss is really good with the bow and arrow(s) and hunting things to eat and tell what things that you can't eat. For the hunger game one girl's name will be picked and one boy's name will be picked and the boy is Peeta, his family are bakers so they bake bread and trade for other things/goods. So during the hunger game in the middle of it Peeta's leg got injured really bad and got bit too, so he had a lot of poison in him too. Katniss's had a best friend name Rue and she had died. Rue had taught Katniss a song that the mocking jays ca understand and pass it on to a different person that knows the song, for an example Katniss to Rue.

This series overall is about a corrupted goverment and rebelling. The goverment controlls everything they do and the people have no say in anything the goverment does. This book is about these "games" they hold every year in which a boy and girl from each district is chosen to fight. They fight in till there is only one person alive. It is very similar to what the people in Rome did with the Gladiators. The Goverment plays with peoples lives for their entertainment.

This book is about survival, a cruel place called Panem and yes, a little bit of love. Panem is the wreckage of what was once known as North America. There are 12 districts each specializing in a certain thing. District 12 are coal miners, District 11 are gardeners, so on. Then there is the Capitol. Every year, to show they have power over everyone, they host a gameshow called the Hunger Games. They have a Reaping day and select one young man and woman to compete. This isn't a normal gameshow. You fight for your life. You kill other children and it's broadcasted live on TV.
A refreshing take on violence in literature!
Katniss Everdeen lives in poor twelfth district of the dictatorship of Panem, which has taken the place of North America. Every year, a boy and a girl, ages twelve to eighteen, from each district are sent to the Capitol to fight in The Hunger Games, in which they must survive in a randomly selected environment while trying to kill each other. It is all one live TV, a reminder of how much control the government has over the people. When Katniss's younger sister is chosen, Katniss immediately volunteers to take her place. She is almost certain she will die but ends up making unexpected alliances and faking a love story.
