I liked this book quite a bit. Psychological, and a bit of mystery to solve. The end was kind of my worst nightmare...

Ugh, I really really dislike this book: it is and always has been a dreadful pre-pregnancy book. If you want to be better informed please pick up a copy of one of William Sears' books: either The Pregnancy Book, or The Baby Book (which has a lot of good info that might be best read before baby comes).
While the What to Expect series has gained much of a following since its inception, you can be more discerning and don't have to accept what this book offers. In other words, to all of the newly pregnant moms-to-be: please, do not blindly jump on this bandwagon. Question everything and be fully informed.Ugh, I really really dislike this book: it is and always has been a dreadful pre-pregnancy book. Incredibly moving portrait of Chanie Wenjack's attempt to get back home...Boyden has said that he was trying to put the reader into Chanie's shoes, so that the reader actually becomes Chanie. I think he did a very good job of it! I won't ever forget this story.Incredibly moving portrait of Chanie Wenjack's attempt to get back home...Boyden has said that he was trying to put the reader into Chanie's shoes, so that the reader actually becomes Chanie. Remarkable and tremendously moving piece of work by a man who always wanted to be writer. What a gifted man! Philosophical, insightful and inspiring. A beautiful book. Please note: the epilogue, written by the author's wife, is particularly emotionally devastating.Remarkable and tremendously moving piece of work by a man who always wanted to be writer. I think this award-winning film might be the best teen flick I've ever seen ... I don't want to give too much away about it ... misfit teens have a strong effect on each other's lives and each one benefits from said relationship in some significant way. The ending is pretty darned wonderful and incredibly moving. Wow! My 15-year-old daughter absolutely adored this film, too! MAEATDG won the Sundance audience award and the jury prize as well.I think this award-winning film might be the best teen flick I've ever seen ... Not to be confused with the Oscar nominated foreign language film in Russian, also called Leviathan. This one is an entirely different and unrelated film. Those public members who have included this entry in their Oscar lists for 2015 are mistaken.

Maybe 2 stars is too generous here. I had trouble getting past the incestuous quality of this Australian film - very shallow messed up characters and very average acting. Robyn Wright gave perhaps the best performance of the group. I agree with another reviewer here that it was a pretty boring movie. If you're looking for a much better Australian film that also takes on the subject of incest, please choose Beautiful Kate (directed by Rachel Ward).Maybe 2 stars is too generous here. I am also a huge fan of Woody Allen, but this is a film neither written nor directed by him. His only credit here is as a performer, and naturally he gets all the laughs via his delivery alone. Loved watching Woody on screen in this one. Also, Vanessa Paradis is riveting to watch. All in all, I thought it was both amusing and touching.I am also a huge fan of Woody Allen, but this is a film neither written nor directed by him. Well now, what a fine piece of writing this is! Major international literary award contender? Probably. Although I don't want to jinx the incredibly talented Mr Crummey. Structured in two parts, you may find this novel a little challenging at the beginning to figure out who's who and what's what in this small Newfoundland fishing community, but Crummey slowly and masterfully reveals all...so please do keep reading! The second half is hugely suspenseful and un-putdownable. I was utterly blown away by this brilliant and gorgeous piece of work about a man who, for his own reasons which I will not reveal, just cannot let go of his home or his life. Crummey is an unbelievably-gifted storyteller. I hope he wins big! Most highly recommended.Well now, what a fine piece of writing this is! Major international literary award contender? Probably. This is a beautiful book, deserving all of its accolades, like dazzling, brilliant and unforgettable...I half listened to the audio (read by the author) and half read from the page. I highly recommend either format. Favourite literary character of all time: old Jiko. Oakville has the audio version, free and immediately available to all for streaming through Hoopla (access from homepage). This is a beautiful book, deserving all of its accolades, like dazzling, brilliant and unforgettable...I half listened to the audio (read by the author) and half read from the page.
