This is a must read for new parents who are trying to sleep better at night and optimize naps for all stages of baby's growth and want the science. There is so much contradicting information out there on how babies sleep and I have read some of it completely frustrated. This book presents a completely science based approach and it helps that the author has two kids and has gone through the challenges that many parents face. She keeps it simple and provides step by step solutions. This is a must read for new parents who are trying to sleep better at night and optimize naps for all stages of baby's growth and want the science. As a non-manager you can learn how to show up to 1:1's better prepared, how to 'manage your own life' and how to seek project/career guidance from your managers or coaches. If you are a manager however, this book is brilliant and flavourful! A manager 101 guide for anyone who is a rookie. It is written with honesty, humour and humility. Ultralearning is a must read for all life long learning enthusiasts or anyone who needs to learn something super fast! Defined by the author as " a strategy for aggressive, self-directed learning," this book covers learning skills and hacks that we were not taught in school (unfortunately), yet are essential to effectively retaining and applying newly learned skills. The author takes his personal learning experiments and inspires the reader to reach for impossible goals. For example, Scott Young passed exams for a 4 year MIT degree in computer science through his self-directed learning experiment in less than 1 year! He also learned to speak 4 languages in 1 year and goes over his methods in the book. Check out his TED talk "Can you get an MIT education for $2,000?" for more inspiration

This is a new EJ (early juvenile) book in our collection by a Canadian author (originally written in French and this is the English translation). It caught my attention because of the lovely elephant on the cover. It turned out to be a delightful story of friendship and courage while managing discrimination because of size and other stereotypes. All the while you explore a museum through beautiful illustrations. Absolutely recommend as a read aloud if you are in store for a slightly longer read than a picture book for your kiddo. This is a new EJ (early juvenile) book in our collection by a Canadian author (originally written in French and this is the English translation). Couldn't resist the title!
A book for busy ladies with an interesting perspective on how to do less and progress while connecting to the cycle of the moon and/ or the female cycle. Ever wonder why some days you need to retreat and research and other days you can take over the world, or some days you just naturally migrate to organizing, planning and strategizing , while other days you are more apt to communicate and collaborate? The author shares her take on how we can tap into these different phases and not stress when we are having an off day and need to take it easy. Loads of actionable idea's on how you can connect with yourself and manage your energy sustainably while not prescribing to the status quo of Go! Go! Go! everyday.Couldn't resist the title!

This has become my favourite book on meditation. I read it earlier in the year when it came out and now going through it for the second time. Initially introduced to Emily Fletcher and her style of meditation from a google talk "Why Meditation is the New Caffeine". Catchy title and I totally recommend the talk!
I became fascinated with the concept of meditating for peak performance and clarity. Stress Less, Accomplish more takes a deep dive into all the reasons to / benefits of having a consistent mediation practice, it clarifies the definition of mindfulness and meditation and shares many stories. The second part of the book goes into Emily Fletchers meditation technique. In essence, this meditation practice aims for people to get better at life and not at meditation. For anyone who has ever thought that they are doing meditation wrong this book will give you a new confidence to persist in the practice. This has become my favourite book on meditation. The 5 Love Languages of ChildrenThe 5 Love Languages of Children, BookThe Secret to Loving Children Effectively

Some years ago I read The 5 Love Languages and found the concept of people having dominant love languages fascinating. Now reading how expressing love languages of children is so valuable is presenting an equally fascinating perspective. Essentially, it comes down to people are unique and receive love differently. To one person a symbol of love may be not as meaningful as to another because they are not connecting to a persons dominant love language. To clarify a bit more, the 5 love languages are:
Physical Touch
Quality Time
Words of Affirmation
Acts of Service
and Receiving Gifts
When you connect to a persons love language they feel the love in a more powerful way, but if you miss the mark it can be disappointing (even though the person offering the love may have done their very best).
Now I've digressed because this book is the 5 love languages of children. Children respond differently to different love languages and they generally have a more dominant one too, but benefit from parents connecting to all the love languages in order to fill their emotional love tank. Down the road this can have a powerful effect on their emotional well being.
If you are a parent or a caregiver reading this book is essential! So many great takeaways and examples throughout. Some years ago I read The 5 Love Languages and found the concept of people having dominant love languages fascinating. This book delivers a fascinating look at the statistics on parenting decisions from birth to preschool aged kids. The writer is a professor of Economics and a mother of two. Her conclusions are data- driven and often surprising considering how conflicting some opinions can be (even professional opinions)! It looks like conventional wisdom does not always hold up and here is the data to prove it. This book can certainly empower parents who are often overwhelmed with information and advice to make an informed choice about what is best for their family unit. This book is stunning cover to cover! Filled with beautiful (mostly) plant based recipes and simple instruction. Loved the section titled, ' waste not, want not' that encourages readers to use broccoli stocks, carrot tops , beet greens etc. with recipe pages near by. Turns out that cilantro stems are even more flavourful than the leaves! (I have been guilty of composting them when I cook in favour of just using the leaves, now this seems ridiculous) . Currently a huge fan of energy balls and p. 260-261 6 date ball variations that look amazing and are packed with nutrition.
