Brutal (to sit through)
.
Duel is a classic suspense film, with perhaps my favorite performance by Dennis Weaver. No fan of true suspense films should miss it.
DUEL is an early film from director Steven Spielberg, in fact, it was a movie made for TV, back in 1971. The movie was based on a story from a Playboy issue, by Richard Matheson. It's about a traveling salesman driving the back roads of the California canyons who is being tailgated, chased, and harassed by an unseen truck driver of a big rig. As one can imagine, there are near crashes, close calls, and moments of relief followed by sheer terror. The movie stars Dennis Weaver as the salesman. Oh, and if you like creepy, with a little bit of horror, then make sure to watch the ending!
I love Dennis Weaver and this movie. How many people have been hurt by those big trucks? this time the motorist won his life but lost his car.
well done for a first feature - the extras on the disc are well worth watching....
Directed by Steven Spielberg in 1971 based on the short story by Richard Matheson, this American road thriller depicts the duel between an unseen crazy driver of an unkempt tanker truck and a terrified salesman driving a Plymouth Valiant.
This laughing-loud-to-death-at-the-edge-of-your-seat movie is a directing debut of Steven Spielberg.
Excellent TV movie by Spielberg >> saw it as a kid and loved it
I would not want to be in his situation at all! That would be very scary. The movie was fun to watch. Definitely is worth your time.
Original title: "Nice Driving Dennis Weaver."
Great horror road cinematography for a daytime film--should have been for a big theatrical screen, but looks real cool on TV. The ending was okay, but I expected more since the majority of the film was very suspenseful.
