Presented on 3 discs - This 8-hour art-tour documentary (in 18 chapters) takes an in-depth look at the Hermitage Museum (and its contents) which is located in St. Petersburg, Russia.

This journey through the world of art (and its long history) is a very informative and educational presentation, looking at architecture, paintings, sculptures, inventions, ornaments, and jewelry that have been collected by the Hermitage over the past 2.5 centuries.

It seems that there is neither any Canadian nor American content displayed at the Hermitage. It is all primarily European artwork with a bit of ancient Egypt and China thrown in for good measure.

*Note* - Dry narration. No subtitles offered.

Its a fairly old recording (1992) and the music is a bit cheesy and the narration a bit pretentious. For some reason the 2nd disc of the set I borrowed could not be played because my player "cannot not play this type of disc", but the 1st and 3rd worked fine. Odd. A wide array of artworks are shown, though none very much discussed.
