So close to a Sookie Stackhouse novel in terms of characters, history of unveiling, and rules/mythology of supernaturals, it is a wonder that this author hasn't been sued for plagiarism. That said, the individual characters are interesting, the main character is slightly new and has a wonderful voice, and, seriously, who can resist a sexy werewolf?

I’ve been putting off this series for a while because I’m not a fan of urban fantasy and the cover art turned me off, but I’m glad I finally tried it. Mercy Thompson is a very likeable character; smart, compassionate, and fierce. There’s also a host of other intriguing characters that I’m interested in finding more about in subsequent books. Overall, a quick and thoroughly fun read!

In Moon Called, we are introduced to a world that is familiar but definitely not our own. There are myriad supernatural creatures about, some that humans are aware of and some they are not. Our entrance into this world is through Mercy, a skin walker capable of transforming into a coyote with close ties to the werewolf community. The world of Mercy Thompson as created by Patricia Briggs and the characters that populate it are interesting and engaging. This is a very strong start to a strong series.

I'm not real picky when it come to the books I read, But when it come's down to it if the first book of a series can't get me going the chances that I'll pick up the next book is slim to none. Now with that said....I'm hooked and addicted to The Mercy Thompson novel's. They have everything I need in a good book and once I start to read one of the books death could not pry the book from hands tell I am done. This is a must read and gateway to the worlds of Patricia Briggs.

Learned about her through a short story collection. Interesting dark series, like the main character: Mercy the skinwalking Mechanic is a trip. Try this series... I have, and I'm going for round two!

A rare novel with a fantastic female lead. I found her smart, brave, and with just the right amount of kindness. Each character was described and had a background to them, enhancing the strength of the story. The catagorization of fantasy ceratures and the explaination of things currently going on in the world Patricia Briggs created was fundemental. I couldn't get over the strength of Mercy Thompson, and wanted to scream at some of the characters when I felt like they underaprecciated her. This novel has won my excitment and dedication to the rest of the series.

Though the revelations felt somewhat forced, I really enjoyed this! The tension is great, the characters are fun, and the world Briggs built is beautiful!

Mercy becomes involved in the story when a teenager walks into her garage looking for work. She gives him one -- warily, because her senses tell he's a werewolf, and he's not from the local clan. But all too soon, men and werewolves come looking for him, the local Alpha has been attacked in his own home, and a dead body has been left as a warning on Mercy's front porch. The action just heats up from there, as the local seethe of vampires and at least one local witch take an interest. Fortunately, Mercy is quick on her feet and has a keen, analytical mind when it comes to sorting out conspiracy theories.

The heroine is very likeable. Tough, Smart and Funny .
I particularly like that this heroine is a self confident business owner, who accepts what she is. She recognizes her limitations of size and strength (against both men and wolves), and accepts that it's okay to leave the fight to others every once in a while.
