I can't imagine ever watching this movie and thinking it was good, even in 1989. The acting is horrible, except maybe the toddler, who was a better actor than most in this film. I enjoyed the book but after watching this version I'm not convinced I care to watch the remake.

i'm waiting for my turn to rent this movie from the library. I've watched the version in which the daughter dies and Judson is a widower. I'm some what excited to watch this version having been told that it is far more in line with the book. Either way both the book and the movie are awesomely freaky and disturbing. I'm sure this version will be just as much so if not more.

This movie is terrible in every possible way.

Still one of the scariest movies out there. A young family moves to a beautiful house, not realizing it's right next to a highway used by semi trucks. The inevitable happens, their toddler ends up walking out onto the road as a truck passes...and the neighbor shows them the local pet cemetery where animals that are buried come back to life. Truly terrifying. Be careful what you wish for.

"Well sometimes, dead is better."
1989 adaptation of Stephen King's novel about an Indian burial ground (of course)In rural Maine that has the power to bring things back to life. Don't people know better? King did the screenplay and has a cameo as a preacher. I disagree with the reviewer who commended the pacing, as I think it's a bit uneven, especially in the family scenes. It does excel in creating a haunted atmosphere and has a strong, creepy conclusion. Character actor Fred Gwynne stands out as the eccentric neighbor. The Ramones did the title song and Mary Lambert directed. Followed by a sequel.

Scary movie. Rent Pet Sementary and watch as Stephen King scares you to pieces! The acting makes this dvd just as good.

This movie is so brilliantly paced and quite a well screen adaption of the book of the same name. With just enough creepiness to make you shutter. Love Fred Gywnne and the kid is actually quite a decent lil actor. (he wants to play with yooooooou.... watch it, you'll get the reference.

good story, kind of scary horror-more pg13 family oriented. perhaps the moral is: do what you know is right in the begining or else continue to lie and cover it up until you die...

I took a girl out on a first date to see this movie, and the part where Church jumps out right after being buried, my date jumped out of her chair and into my lap. Great date movie. Ha Ha.
