Did not watch very much of this film, too depressing. I am sure the American, Canadian and other Nationalities of Soldiers Journalists, or others that are taken prisoner now or have been in Prison in Iraq or places like such have gone through much worse treatment and torture.

an excellent, gruesome documentary. as Errol says in the commentary - this is only the tip of the iceberg of what actually happened at Abu Ghraib and who should ultimately be held responsible.

Documentarian Errol Morris gets political with this look at the Abu Ghraib prison scandal. Unlike say Michael Moore, Morris remains offscreen and lets his subjects speak for themselves. The interviewees, most famously Lynndie England, come off as more naive than malicious and clearly there were higher ups who should have also been held responsible. The fault of the film is that there are true crime show re-enactments of the events, which are both cheesy and distracting, as the story is powerful enough without these scenes. Also see "Taxi to the Dark Side," "No End in Sight," and Morris's documentary on Rumsfeld, "The Unknown Known." There's an accompanying book written by the New Yorker's Philip Gourevitch.
