Spectacularly good. Apparently there is a sequel, Into the Storm, with SPL doesn't have. I've requested they buy it.

As this movie started, with older actors playing the parts of even older characters, I thought: This is going to be a slow one...But it turned out to be one of the best movies we'd seen in a very long time. We sometimes like to binge watch movies, but after this one, we decided nothing could top it or come even close, so we ended our evening with this movie. Phenomenal acting! I did not expect to develop a mini-crush on Churchill or shed tears at the sentimental ending. Wonderful!

Good acting, great scenery, informative storyline of pre-war British Parliament politics.

Churchill, before the war

Interesting to see the rise off Hitler thru English eyes. So many warning signs of ominous deeds to come, which the English chose to ignore.

For anyone suffering from Downton Abbey withdrawal, this two episode drama is set in the period leading up to WWII with a rising Nazi Germany. The human drama is every bit as compelling as Downton (you'll see Hugh Bonneville in the House of Commons).

An excellent production from around 2002. Top notch cast. Get to know Churchill as he really was.

Good - Gathering Storm (2002) [Made for Television - HBO] 96 min. Albert Finney is terrific as portraying Winston Churchill during the time that England declares war on Germany. The dialogue and situations are extremely interesting with insights provided on the ideology of Nazi mind. There are some warm scenes between Churchill and his wife (played by Vanessa Redgrave) that are choreographed to pull on one’s heart strings. This is a good one. Winner of the 2002 Emmy for best film and writing. Followed by “Into the Storm (2009)” available at OPL.
