With no previous knowledge of Norse mythology, it was fun to get to know the characters in this short story.

A Norse mythology adventure story of a young boy who must outwit the frost giants so spring can return to his land. Great as a read aloud or for beginning and middle grade readers. Fairly short. Also a good audio book read aloud by the author. Not scary like many other of Gaiman's works.

Neil Gaiman can do short, condensed stories very well. But this was just...insubstantial. Odd doesn't have a personality, and neither does anyone else.

I am really glad that I don't have to live with Loki. (Although he IS a shape-changer, so, hmmm, it makes me wonder about my cat...)

I love this book! The writing was a bit different that what I exepcted though. I really liked how the main character is someone who is very, very annoying.

Short, fun, memorable read. Brighter than _Coraline_ by far; less inventive (in painting another world) than _Graveyard Book_. Still, delightful illustrations (put an extra half star in there for that), & fantastic for reading aloud.

A typically weird story, with a nice ending, but it doesn't have the spark of Gaiman's earlier work.

This book was a really fun read. It reads like a myth. I read this out loud to my 6 year old and he really liked it. The book does talk about Viking raids, fighting, and the boy Odd's father dying right at the beginning of the book. But that is it for violence.

Great fantasy story. Recommend for over age 10. Fun quick read for adults too!
