Well worth watching. For the first three episodes I found the posh British accent of the narrator, Alice Roberts, really hard to listen to, even though I've watched PBS British programs for years. By the 4th one it didn't grate so much. There is a great deal of new info in this even though it's 6 years old. Much that is thought provoking.

Great show with interesting science about the actual ways that modern humans traveled and populated the globe. Great companion show to PB's "First Peoples". That show is more about the origins of the DNA in modern humans.

The BBC has done it again. This has high production value which is entertaining and educational. Some newest genetic findings regarding human origins in not mentioned here due to early release date but this does not detract from the presentation. Dr. Alice Roberts was a refreshing and engaging moderator and explained some complex research in simple yet interesting fashion. National Geographic, now owned by Disney, and the History Channel could learn much from the BBC that educational subjects can be very entertaining without using over-hyped sensationalism or violent themes to keep an audience's attention. We ARE all one people.

How did our ancestors reach America from Africa?
This is one of the big wonders.
Using the evidence from genetics, fossils, archaeology and climatology, Dr. Alice Roberts tells us that our ancestors actually canoed along the west coast all the way to the southernmost tip of South America.
In 1947 Norwegian explorer and writer Thor Heyerdahl used a raft called "Kontiki" and sailed across the Pacific Ocean from South America to the Polynesian islands.
For the same token, there is a ocean current that flows from Asia to America along the equator.
So, some of our ancestors might have sailed from South East Asia to South America on the "Ocean Highway."
