Lee Hae-myung enjoys all that 1930s Seoul has to offer. In one of the underground dance halls he discovers Nan-shil, a startlingly beautiful chanteuse, and is immediately transfixed. They start seeing each other, but Nan-shil takes him for everything he's worth and disappears without a trace. Because he believes that she was in fact in love with him as well, Hae-myung stops at nothing to find her.

I thought this film was gorgeously done, a truly haunting & dreamlike period piece. The musical sensibilities alone are outstanding, with the added gut-wrenching espionage subtext as in "Black Book" & "Lust, Caution". Highly recommended.
