I picked this up after a coworker gave a really compelling recommendation. It was very compelling, I found myself feeling sad and outraged within minutes of starting to read. The writing itself was fresh and honest. This took me outside of my comfort zone, and while I didn't read it cover to cover, I would still recommend it to other hip hop heads!
A fascinating book. Brought back some childhood memories of east 11th street before gentrification washed it all away. After reading the book, I realized all the material things Iceberg (Robert Beck) managed to acquire could've been had working a full time 40hr a week job without fear. At the end of his days, he STILL had nothing material to cling to. Just as before he made his life decision.
OMG this was good, I can't say that the language was understandable, but after awhile I got the hang of it.
