This was a book that I really enjoyed. I was able to get swept up in the fast-paced action. This novel switches viewpoints quite a bit. In the past, I have found this very jarring as it interrupts the reader and the flow of the story. However, I thought Lu pulled this off successfully. I wonder if this was because she did it so frequently that the reader never became too comfortable in one person's p.o.v. It also helped that the new narrator would often pick up on previous narrator's idea.

I'm not big on romance books, so its hard for me to get too excited about the traditional boy meets girl relationship, but it worked for me here. The two protagonists reminded me of Romeo and Juliette as they were star-crossed-one against the government and one for the government. That premise is exciting and interesting in itself as it hold so much innate tension.

This work is a classic example of man vs. government. The central theme illustrates how the rights of the individual can conflict with the state.

a terrific YA dystopian novel with a romeo and juliet vibe, hard to believe this was marie lu’s debut!

I must say, this book was not the "10/10 Best Book Ever!" story I expected, but it still was a very intriguing story, with a cliff-hanger ending. I really enjoyed the depth in the characters, and I could easily see this scenario(USA in a civil war, west coast representing Republic elites, Colonies mainstream America) happen in reality. Overall, I would give this book a 9/10, and a "Would Strongly Recommend Reading" review.

The live story was kind of interesting but mostly annoying. The story is definitely riveting as the two characters finally cross paths.

'Legend' is an intense ride of thrills, twists, romance, and a futuristic society. Like many YA novels, it features a strong heroine and her love interest, a handsome criminal. Unlike many YA novels, it has fantastic world building, plot, and premise, and the characters do rise above common trends. Sometimes the book struggles to differentiate itself from the genre of YA fiction, and sometimes it's a touch predictable and slow-moving, but overall this was a well-written and suspenseful read—truly LEGENDary (see what I did there??).

I loved this book a lot! A friend recommended it to me and I didn't regret reading it. It had a lot of plot twists and is definitely one of my favourites.

Saw the book as a “thought you would like” after reading the divergent and hunger games trilogy’s, and thought I would try it. It was pretty good, but I think the book needed a stronger plot, because of you really think about it, not that much happens. (SPOLIER AHEAD) The whole government regulated plague thing I thought was hilarious bacuase that was one of the main things that happens in a book that I’m writing before I read this so that was really coincidental! I don’t really recommend this book to adults because I think they will find it to boring, or to young kids, because they usually like more action, but for teens, I think this book was great and can’t wait to read the next time nes in the trilogy!

June and Day are 15 years old and living in The Republic, which is at war with the Patriots and the Colonies. June is a prodigy with a perfect score on her trial, and is on her way to becoming a wealthy soldier, even though she likes to cause a bit of trouble. Day on the other hand failed his trial, and he lives on the street with a girl named Tess as one of the most "annoying" criminals. Their lives have no reason to cross, until June's older brother is killed and Day becomes the prime suspect in the case. June is given the mission of hunting Day down. But, when June finally meets Day, the situation takes a different turn, and they uncover the truth of who really killed June's brother, and to what lengths the republic will go to in order to keep it's secrets.

Legend tells the story of a two remarkable 15-year-olds, Day and June, living on West cost of the United States now known as The Republic. This book instantly reminded me of Aladdin because Day is from a very poor area of The Republic and steals from the rich to help out his family and community. June on the other hand, has grown up in one of the wealthiest areas and has everything she could ask for and a secure future. Their paths suddenly cross after June's brother is murdered during a hospital break-in attempt by Day. The Republic's military uses June's thirst for revenge and has her track Day and bring him to justice. However, June soon finds out her safe world has not been what it appeared to be at all.

In 2130, the Republic rules the western part of post-apocalyptic America and grooms their most promising young into soldiers. One of their elite is fifteen-year-old June, a military prodigy and the only person to score a perfect 1500 at the Trials. On the opposite side of town, fifteen-year-old Day lives on the streets and fights injustice on his own terms. His remarkable ability to make the Republic look bad has landed him on the Republic’s most wanted list. When a new strain of the plague appears, Day’s brother is infected and his family is quarantined. Since only the privileged can afford the luxury of medicine, Day’s family has no choice but to let the plague take its course. In a desperate attempt to secure a vial of the vaccine for his younger brother, Day breaks into the laboratory at the local hospital. However, things go terrible wrong and Day is pursued by Republic Captain Iparis, June’s brother. When Captain Iparis is found dead, Day is the prime suspect. Vowing to bring her brother’s killer to justice, June plans a covert operation to flush out Day. While undercover, June meets a mysterious young man who saves her from an enraged mob of gamblers. As she discovers his true identity and the Republic’s dark secrets, June must make a decision that will change her life forever.
