Another great album from Florence + The Machine. Her voice and the drama of the music is captivating. Shake It Out, Never Let Me Go, and No Light, No Light are my favorites.
Florence and her Machine brush aside the sophomore curse with an album even more well-crafted and anthemic than their debut. If there's any flaw in this strong collection of power-pop ballads, it's their tendency to be a bit TOO powerful, sometimes cutting to a crescendo at the expense of atmosphere. But honestly, why hold back when your lead singer has a voice like that?
The scale of this album is amazing - the orchestration and resulting textures envelop and feel full to bursting, without being overdone. Forget the critics that bemoan the 'melodrama' - grand and ambitious are the words they're looking for. And of course, Florence's voice is awesome.

For everyone that is on hold for this cd, there is another Ceremonials cd available with a much shorter hold list. It's the exact same cd as this one. For some reason, the library has Ceremonials listed twice, separate from one another. If you put the "other" cd on hold and you will get it much faster than staying on this hold list.
Beautiful as it is haunting, esp vocally. Had it not been for the song/vid of "Dog Days Are Over" taken from her previous outing, Lungs, Florence has set the tone rather well on THIS outing that I have ever heard in awhile and recommend a listen definitely!

I agree with Kate! She has a unique sound and a great band to back her up.
One of my favorite albums. Florence has a beautiful, powerful voice and the lyrics are haunting.
