The first half of this series is fun. It's got a lot of good historical research behind it. The second half goes into some very unexpected territory around colonialism, theology and politics. The story keeps taking unexpected turns. It is not a comfortable story; it is not a story for children. In the end, though, it is one hell of a story. The second season, which the library doesn't seem to have, follows a similar arc: mundane interesting tale for the first two thirds, then suddenly uncomfortably edgy. Recommended for people who want to be challenged in their thoughts.
