Godawful- don't waste your time on this junk ( even from such a renowned director as Cronenberg ).

The Summer of '16 Cronenberg retrospective continues with what turned out to be a languid, hilarious, whole milk & surreal meditation on the effectively occult facets of wealth, trade, & the free market system. The director may have found a muse on par with Viggo Mortenson in Robert Pattinson's smoldering, reptilian delivery...the interior of his limousine is the only set for much of the film, as it morphs into a closed ecosystem of dream, sex, ambition, revelation, with an underwhelmed billionaire poet wife always at the ready with the deadpan dropkick. Glad my man DC got his groove back, absolutely loving the tone & direction of these more recent films of his. Five stars with asymmetrical prostates (it's just a harmless variation!). CR

"Violence needs a cause". Any moments of this would be kind of profound in a regular movie, but all at once is just surreal. I watched before reading the comments, but you are all right, it's awful. Like so many others here, I stopped partway through to watch Game of Thrones season 5, and it was a toss-up whether or not I bothered to return and watch the end. But I did, and I kept wishing for the dam thing to be over, then I was mad when it was. Acting-wise, RP does woodenly beautiful a lot like Keanu Reeves. The DVD extras says the guy wrote the script in 6 days and they used all the film takes where the star didn't know what he was doing, and I'm not surprised. I had to stop watching the extra feature because like the film itself, it showed no sign of ever ending. Bonus star because the girl from Minority Report shows up, and I loved that movie.

The script is about a young guy, who was a financial instrument speculator, always stays in his limo. The movie tries to provide sex scene & expensive stuff. But, everything is superficial & poorly produced. This movie is not entertaining. A waste of time!

good movie. Glad I did not follow the crowd opinion on this one. Watched it twice and found it more interesting.
Was similar in style to eXistence.

I found this film intriguing and haunting myself...

I READ OTHER PEOPLES COMMENTS AND LAUGHED SO MUCH i HAD TEARS IN MY EYES! Completely agree! To find any meaning to this movie, you'd have to be a VERY generous person (and staggeringly forgiving) Just plain awful. I was very surprised. To go from water for elephants to this piece of crap..... Hard times I guess, bad decisions.

What were they thinking?
Obviously they weren't!
Stupid and ununderstandble.

Surprisingly pointless except that a very rich person can get so bored that he will do dumb things.

When the good actor Paul Giamatti shows up, he is supposed to be an equally deranged dumb soul, but Giamatti's voice is so distinctive it's hard to forget he's played so many other good guy roles.

Let's say 2 stars if you really like some philosophizing about rich people.

This was a complete waste of time. Shame on me ...I gave it a full 1/2 hr. I thought, "it gets better right?".
Who wrote this and why would they!!!
