A group of military personnel transporting a hydrogen bomb are left to figure out how and why swarms of killer bugs took down their plane. The answer is more deliriously nihilistic and convoluted that they imagine.

English title: Genocide. The Japanese make some bat-poop bonkers films and this series released by Criterion is an excellent example of that. An American plane goes down and a nuclear bomb goes missing on a small Japanese island. Meanwhile strange things are happening in the insect world. Are we headed for nuclear war or insect armaggedon? Or both???? The movie manages to be cautionary cold war tale, anti-military tract and killer insect horror movie. A highlight is an insect poison freak out sequence in which a guy speaks for the insects. Awesomely berserk. You might like "House" and "Jigoku," also available from Criterion.
