This story was the end of an era for Doctor Who. Not only was it Patrick Troughton last regular go around as the Doctor is was also the last series to be filmed in black and white. It also said good bye to Jamie and Zoe, two of Doctor Who's most loved companions. But it was also the series of first. Possibly the first incarnation of The Master as The War Chief. We found out that the Doctor was a fugitive of his race which were finally introduced in this series, the Time Lords. I do have to warn you if interested, this one is long. Ten episodes might be a bit for anyone just getting into the classes show.

It was very hard to get used to for me since I was introduced in the new series. However, after getting over the mediocre acting and old timey wimey special effects, I could enjoy it. It was dragged out a bit as well, but I didn't mind. Disclaimer: If I remember correctly, the disc freezes up near the end of Episode 3 or 4. You don't miss anything , because it shows again in the next episode.

This was the first time I saw shows with the second Doctor. It's quite a change from the current Doctor. The Sonic Screwdriver was actually used to screw something! At 10 episodes, this story might have run just a bit too long. It was engaging through the first 5 episodes but by episode 8, I felt like they were just going back and forth, doing the same things over and over again.

I liked Zoe as a companion. I'd watch some other episodes with her if they're available. One segment of the extras leads me to believe that Jamie was a very popular companion during his run. Unfortunately, they both get pushed aside at the end of this story.
