This is one of the best animated films based on a comic book that I've seen. The story is deep, the artwork is outstanding and at times, beautiful. Adults will appreciate this film more than children.

The art is cool.

An adaptation of the '04 "Loki" miniseries. The animation is more nicely fluid then the motion comic adaptation of Joss Whendon's first ever "Astonishing X-men" arc but I think this is thanks in part to nicely textured and done CGI.Due to a part where Balder hints at having seen a multiverse I'm not sure if this takes place in the "normal" Marvel mainstream universe-616. As for the art,a lot of the characters who look in like adults in their prime when normally depicted look gaunt but because the depiction looks borderline Franzetta-like it works it kind of goes with the setting and characters of Norse mythology.Shows how Loki:Thor’s deadly Machiavellian enemy and A-list heavy hitter villain in the Marvel universe, is emotionally tortured and how this goes with how he is a trickster deity who at times goes as far as self proclaiming himself to be a diety of evil.It notably points out that even though he’s Thor’s enemy he’s also emotionally tortured and recognizes their brotherly love for each other. In my opinion this interestingly parralels how in the X-men Magneto (despite being an on and off villian) and Prof.X are always apparently friends despite opposing each other for the most part until Magneto’s most recent reform in the “Nation X” storyline.Having Broadway actors voicecast really helps to rock Marvel’s pseudo-Shakespearean accent for Norse mythological characters. The ending felt so abrupt though :).
