Good follow up, which was sort of an impossible task anyway. As I listen now I find that the slower songs to be somewhat boring, having heard them so many times; the loud ones have aged the best. Milk It, Scentless Apprentice, Very Ape and Tourette's still sound great. It always sounded to me like Cobain's heroin use and mental state hurt this album, almost as if it's intentionally discordant and harsh sounding in parts just to say f.u. to the fans and fame of Nevermind, the production didn't help much either.
I saw them in concert during the Nevermind tour and they were already playing some of these songs, and they sounded a hell of a lot better than what Albini did to them. Grohl's drums sound downright crappy at times, then they sound awesome. It's odd. Good album, wrong producer.

"Although I find the 2013 remix to be nothing more than a tasteless money grab…"

Steve Albini (not known for BS when it comes to recording and mastering):

“In a lot of cases, even when that record was new, Nirvana were one of hundreds of bands that had to put out a record that year, so they weren’t granted that degree of quality control. The mastering was done using a reputable mastering engineer but it wasn’t done with the kind of attention to detail that was possible 20 years later."

My absolute favorite Nirvana album. Filled with beautiful string arrangements and an overall softer (but not less intense) sound than "Bleach" and "Nevermind." One of the few albums I truly enjoy start to finish.

I love the entire album but my favorite tracks are "Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle," "Dumb," "Pennyroyal Tea," and "All Apologies."

Great music from a great band Cobain was one of the best. His music will stand the test of time.

Although I find the 2013 remix to be nothing more than a tasteless money grab, the real treasure is the b-sides on the end of disc 1 and also a few decent demos on the end of disc 2. Personally In Utero is not my favorite Nirvana album but there is some good stuff here, just not all of it. Good for any Nirvana fan.

Great album by Kurt Cobain & Co. Funny- I've never considered the band as ' grunge '- or rather I've always felt the the band distanced themselves from the label by the virtue of their quality.

this is my favorite Nirvana album Nevermind was the big hit album but i always have come back to this album. I replaced a lot of cassette copies in the late 1990's playing this album so much.Kurt was and will always be a huge influence on me as a muscian. before Nirvana and Kurt Cobain i just sang and wrote songs after him i learned guitar and became a complete muscian.this album is so heavy and a lot of gems that should of been as played as the singles. Dumb Penny Royal Tea Frances Farmer All Apologies are great songs and highlights besides Heart Shaped Box and Rape Me which everyone knows . If you want to remember real music not todays's autotune teen pop disney or rap.this is real music with balls and not fake or forced anyone who loves 1990's music get this album!

Im primarily a metal dude, and got alot of crap for liking grunge back in the early to mid nineties, but i have listened to this album plenty of times and always like it.

After attaining superstardom with "Nevermind", Nirvana coolly flipped the bird to the music establishment, stepping back from "Nevermind"s polished, at times even radio-friendly style to go darker and grungier on "In Utero". There's no comfort zone on this album, but there are Nirvana's classic moody punk melodies and plenty of Cobain's darkly comic ramblings. And, streaming through turned-up speakers and roaring guitars and voices, there's revolution.

Dealing with their newly found fame, Nirvana decided to take a more darker turn in their music careers, releasing my personal favourite; In Utero.
