1995 film by the Hughes Brothers that is an erratic follow up to their intense, violent hood film "Menace II Society." Part of the problem is that it's trying to be like 4 different films. It starts as a coming of age story in Bronx, then the protagonist goes to Vietnam, where he's traumatized, returns to the Bronx and tries to resume his life, but then resorts to crime. It was billed as more of an action heist movie, but they don't get to this until the end of the film. A soundtrack of great 70s soul and R&B songs (James Brown, Isaac Hayes, Al Green) is one of its more notable features. Larenz Late, who was also in "Menace II Society," Chris Tucker, Keith David, and Terrence Howard star. Part of the wave of black films of the 90s ("Boyz N the Hood," "Jungle Fever," "Fresh,"
"Just Another Girl on the IRT," "Straight Out of Brooklyn").

Entertaining vietnam era action crime drama. The way the movie moves from before the war to after the war is done well. Not very well acted overall. The story was pretty well written and the ending was very exciting.
