I have been trying to watch this DVD,but it has one problem .I find that EVEN WITH the close captioning Turned ON there are still times when they are talking nothing but GERMAN without ANY TRANSLATION OF WHAT THEY ARE SAYING! so far all I have gotten is that "Binen" means Bees(plural). There is an old Black & white drawing they show which seems to be a drawing of a big Man made Bee hive. I would have loved to know what they said about it(no English translation in that section of the DVD at all). All that German makes this one for speakers of that Language.

Excellent doc on the current colony collapse disorder that is affecting bees worldwide.

Well crafted exploration of various aspects of beekeeping.

Outstanding photography of actual bee research made this one of the better films on this particular topic that I have seen.

Took forever to get to the point & even then never really delved into it. Really should be described as a documentry about bees, then yes its very detailed.
Because tone cannot be heard through text I say the following with a large amount of sarcasim....Once again we have messed with nature & shockingly its not working!

Is this available in English. The dvd cover is in English. Would really like to view it.

A stunning, visual commentary on the plight of our world"s honeybees and their continued decline. Instead of fretting or burying our heads in the sand, it's important for us to examine, question, and acknowledge how generations of mankind's own interference, manipulation and greed has impacted bee populations. In China, Mao"s disastrous and unintelligent policy of killing one billon sparrows set in motion its widespread use of chemicals today. China now has to hand-pollinate it's crops due to the loss of bees. Here in N. America, large-scale farming's unchecked use of pesticides will eventually guarantee us a similar outcome. It is also shameful how antibiotic application on bees, stressful bee-pollintation company practices, and humankind's manipulative methods of queen bee selective processes have weakened overall bee traits and their ability to withstand disease and adverse conditions. As suggested in the film, the addition and mix of African killer bees, through natural migration, might help strengthen traits and immunity in honeybees. In the end though, unless we address the rampant use of pesticides and antibiotics, and the problems of big-business in large-scale farming operations, we all will suffer. The common person can do a lot by just becoming aware and communicating what we expect from government, scientists and the farming community instead of being docile and passive.

If you are a sensitive person with empathy for the creatures on this planet who are in danger of annihilation, DO NOT watch this movie. It goes into great and graphic detail the ways that monoculture, pesticides, manipulation of bee colonies, and human greed all contribute and influence what looks to be the eventual demise of the bee species, and, as it follows that they pollonate plants, the elimination of our food.
Good movie for shock value, but I feel totally helpless to see any change. I have stopped eating honey, that is all I can do to help.

Without bees the world's population would not last long as this documentary relays important updated information about feral and killer bees!
