A fun and tragic story. I have seen the film a couple of times now and it never fails to bring a smile to my face. I am huge fan of Wes Anderson's work, I find his films to be charming and feel good. I found the adventurous spirit of "The Grand Budapest" hotel added some extra verve to Wes Anderson's usually dry tone and tact. The two main characters M. Gustave and Zero Mustafa find themselves caught up in legal scandal involving a wealthy widow. The film sees them sprung from their generally quiet life as a concierge and lobby boy, respectively. The film is set in a sort of inter-war (1919-1939) approximation of Central and Eastern Europe and Wes Anderson does a great job of capturing the images and atmosphere of paranoia and jingoism inherent in that time period. The set pieces are also excellent and well designed I felt really taken in by the images of the films and it added to my involvement of the film.

Wes Anderson NEVER fails to put out. This film is as beautiful as his previous ones. Every time I watch it, it's like watching it for the first time, because I find so many new things to look at and enjoy. The acting is superb, the script wonderful and hilarious, the scenery beautiful and flawless. This movie is a great addition to anyone's collection, and definitely a wonderful movie to watch alone, as a family, on a date - you pick it. It's perfect.

Grandiose and intimate, Wes Anderson’s characters keep their cool as their lives evolve from environments dripping in opulence to gray-scale communist cell blocks and back. Funny, beautiful, stylish and sentimental, I can watch this film over and over and I always notice new details. An all-time fave. ❤️ Mr Gustave 🗝

So weirdly funny. I didn't get a lot of the jokes, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Watched this star-studded movie filled with interesting and quirky characters for the 3rd time last night. It always delights me and maybe the 4th time I'll get to spend more time looking at the grand hotel interiors in this fabulous movie. Each time I identify another actor playing a character in this sensually delightful film. When politics gets too rough around the edges, this movie is a great distraction.

Beautiful visually and highly stylized but I didn't understand the point to this movie. I guess celebration of a bygone time and anti-war.

Watched this on Netflix before they took it off tomorrow. It's a colourful movie and very visually gratifying, although vulgar at times. Loved the third act of the movie where it had this James Bond feel to it with two goofy characters and the character Zero also made a sort of Napolian Dynamite type of frame. Well acted by other cast.

As some one that found this movie charming and very funny I do have to warn that the humor is something that I dont think is for everyone. It seems to be some sort of cheesy take on classy humor, with vulgar and brutal moments to sort of make a really silly movie. It does have lighthearted moments too. But for me its more the cheesiness of it with just shots that ooze a style. I suggest you read up on reviews if you are on the fence and need a push. Because although I loved it, when I saw it in theaters, I was the only one laughing their ass off. So You have been warned.

Moustafa on Gus:
--There are still faint glimmers of civilization left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity... He was one of them. What more is there to say?
--To be frank, I think his world had vanished long before he ever entered it - but, I will say: he certainly sustained the illusion with a marvelous grace!

Gus: I must say, I find that girl utterly delightful. Flat as a board, enormous birthmark the shape of Mexico over half her face, sweating for hours on end in that sweltering kitchen (in the bakery), while Mendl, ...
