If Vitro by Jessica Khoury had to be summed up in a few words, it would look a little like this; power-hungry, psychotic, gut-wrenching — yet beautifully eye-opening. When you think of futuristic developments and life as a whole, robots without a doubt come to mind. Vitro showcases the evident advantages and disadvantages that come with living in a world like such. Instead of having a cliche robots-take-over kind of plot, the roles were reversed. Humans, instead of robots, were the ones to dangerously take control and steer the wheel. The main character, Sophie, decides to fly to a mysterious island after receiving a letter from her “mother”. When she arrives, she realizes that the beautiful island she remembered, was transformed into a horrifying mass-laboratory. It leaves her questioning everything and everyone she thought she knew. All in all, Vitro is a breathtaking book with a unique plot and striking detail. Jessica Khoury did a phenomenal job spinning this novel together and I guarantee you, this book will have you at the edge of your seat. Rating 4.5/5 stars.

I liked it but i feel like the characters weren't developed. I wanted to love the main characters more and learn how sinister the scientists are.

I loved this book. I finished it in a day, the pages just fly faster than time does. :) Jessica Khoury's first enchanting and haunting novel, Origin, left me with a hunger to read the rest of her books. Vitro is a captivating, dark, and secretive tale that makes your head spin. It really makes you think. My only complaint is that the book seemed a little under-developed. It just felt like she poured her everything into Origin. This book paled a little bit in comparison. After reading this book I came to one conclusion: I'm really glad that God loves me and that He holds my world in his hands, and that nothing will ever separate me from his love.

The fast pace nature and true to future scientific instincts are fascinating, if still fiction. The characters are fun and challenging, while having flaws and winning you over. A great read.
