When Detective Chief Jack Mowbray's district was invaded by an elusive serial killer, Mowbray was browbeaten by his boss, DCS Henderson, to catch the murderer yesterday, if not sooner. As the unknown villain continued to cut a bloody swath through the moors, the overworked Mowbray's personal life suffered mightily. Series 1 follows the hunt for a serial killer; Series 2, the search for a copycat.

Yes, the BBC sure knows how to produce a great drama series. Intricate plotting, tight direction, superb acting, and in-depth character development. Exposes all the flaws and faults of police investigations, including the dirty politics (redundant) and corruption. Highly recommended, but be warned: the accents are very thick and sometimes unintelligible. Doesn't detract from the story though.

very good. an ongoing investigation over multiple episodes, and the effect the case has on the crew involved. somewhat along the lines of "the Killing" but i think better: doesn't use the tease factor to pull the viewer along.

Once again the BBC has produced a provocative and thrilling drama. In Without Motive, series one and two (12 episodes in total), there is a serial killer on the loose in Bristol England. A task force headed by DCS Henderson is formed to catch the vicious killer. The main character, DC Jack Mowbray, is assigned to the task force much to the chagrin of his family. As the number of victims increase there is intense pressure on the task force to make an arrest. Eventually the task force does make an arrest but the killings continue. This drama has great dialog and character development. It's an edge of your seat whodunit from start to finish.
