"Life in the jungle can be both beautiful and savage... A lush paradise when viewed from a distance, providing camouflage to a daily Hell of trials and survival for those who live there. Portrayed as a day in the life of the king of the jungle, this lavishly illustrated story follows a single majestic tiger through a wordless adventure as it hunts prey and defends itself from other would-be killers defending their own territory. This exciting tale by Frédéric Brrémaud is told without narration or dialogue, conveyed entirely through the beautiful illustrations of Federico Bertolucci" --

Gorgeously portrayed, at times tense to peruse. It feels exactly what I imagine a day in the jungle is actually like--life and death dangling precariously from moment to moment.

Good visual storytelling.

This is a gorgeously illustrated depiction of a day in the life of a tiger. It is a story of predators, prey, and interconnection. Not only is the tiger's meandering, oft-interrupted hunt portrayed in great detail, also are snippets of other creatures' days that happen to be near the hunt's path--the two snails on a leaf that are knocked into the water for the fish waiting below, for instance. There are a multitude of encounters, big and small, that provide a fascinating look at an ecology in action. By it's very nature, the book only loosely follows a plot and only vaguely tells a story. While this is a necessity of portraying events realistically, it kept the book from being as engaging as I would have liked. Good; not great.

Beautiful, beautiful graphic novel! The Tiger, the first volume in the Love series, was a mesmerizing story. Beautifully done! Frédéric Brrémaud's writing is deep, Federico Bertolucci's illustrations are captivating. Reading The Tiger was like flipping through a National Geographic magazine. Elephants, snakes, panthers, monkeys, and many more animals were portrayed in beautiful display. I highly recommend The Tiger.

A well told story and the art is definitely gorgeous. It's cataloged as a juvenile graphic novel, but I wouldn't personally give it to young kids, especially those easily upset over gore and animals dying.

Absolutely beautiful painting & story. Not just about a tiger, there's many other stories within...peacocks, panthers, a fox, etc. No dialogue needed. It even has a happy ending ;)

A gorgeous, wordless graphic novel about the day in the life of a tiger.

In the animal kingdom, animals neither love nor hate each other.

Love and hate are parts of a natural whole. A supreme balance many consider to be universal, or even divine. An elemental love.

A love that mankind could never experience.
