This is a beautiful story about a young girl’s coming of age and the magic of the sea. This book is one the author’s earlier works and it clearly reveals the evolution of what would become classic Patricia McKillip style - dreamlike and poetic. The only thing that is wrong about this book is the horrible cover art, which does no justice at all to the work itself.

Wow. I'm the first to comment? Why? This book was really amazing. I loved it. I've read it at least 14 times (no joke). The plotline, the characters, the setting...its interesting and magical at the same time.
