I'd have never believed Mel Gibson could provide a decent rendition of Hamlet. He has.

Wow. The best version of Hamlet ever made. Franco Zefferelli does the play justice like never before. A must see!

What can anyone say about Hamlet?--To Thine own self --be true!!

This adaptation of a Shakespearean masterpiece was an utter letdown. It was boring, omitted too much, and neglected to give enough context in a few situations. Helena Bonham Carter was the sole good aspect. Usually, I am a huge fan of Glenn Close, but she did not shine in this film as she does in others.
