The author has the great name of Kermit Roosevelt III, and it's not because his parents were fans of The Muppets. He is the great-great-grandson of President Theodore, a law professor, author of many scholarly works and, on the evidence of this book, a talented novelist. This book about a large law firm has finely-drawn characters and stylish writing, but the real satisfaction is the author's depth of legal knowledge and how he uses this to move the plot forward without far-fetched twists. This is a novel about a law firm, not a legal thriller, and fans of John Grisham and Scott Turow may find it rather slow going, but it is an engrossing and entertaining read nonetheless.
