"In this just-surreal-enough take on the 'school genre' of manga, a group of friends (which includes a robot built by a child professor) grapple with all sorts of unexpected situations in their daily lives as high schoolers. The gags, jokes, puns and haiku keep this series off-kilter even as the characters grow and change. Check out this new take on a storied genre and meet the new ordinary."--

It is hard to plainly say that if you like humor, you will like this book. This manga uses a sub-genre of comedy that is random and situational; it's as if a sitcom has lost its grip on reality, yet managed to keep it's wholesome sensibilities. This book did not work for me, as the jokes landed flat and the confusion of what was going on left me frustrated instead of amused. I have read this creator's newest work, City, and that has worked a bit better for me. It still holds its humor, while being more straight-forward in story. If you are unsure if you would enjoy this title, I recommend trying City Volume 1 and if it seems a little too tame, then perhaps dive into this series.

I was going to say that this book is terrible. But I only read half of it. And maybe the writer is a really wonderful person. Maybe the other volumes in the series are better. Perhaps I don't get the inside jokes, or references to other elements of Japanese society. Oh well: try it if you like, but I was underwhelmed. Not recommended.

Very cute and wacky slice-of-life adventures of a group of classmates! The artwork is nice and the humor is quirky and entertaining. Definitely recommended as a casual read!
