It's your typical gangster show--backstabbing, cheating, violent deaths, sex etc. Not the greatest but definitely not the worst. If you prefer characters with at least some redeeming qualities, a better storyline and stronger female characters then I would recommend Empire.

You know, despite the show seeming very low budget and the actors being people that I am not familiar with, I liked this show. I cannot wait for season 2 to come out on DVD.

I like 50 Cent's character, even though we don't see much of him. I know he's going to be just a good as Lucius on Empire. Ghost, I have my ups and downs with him. I liked him when the show first began, but as time went on and he became an even bigger cheater, I kept wanting someone to kill him. I absolutely love Tommy, and I have a feeling that he is going to be amazing in season 2. Tasha's story line is just getting started. She's just getting started. And Angela...let's just say that I think they could have given her more to do. I am uncertain about her role in the investigation of Lobos. She seems to not know her place (either that or my idea of what lawyers do during investigations has been muddled by SVU and CSI). I hope she dies. I found myself fast forwarding through all the scenes between her and Ghost. And her at work..well all the scenes with her in it.
All in all, I liked it a lot.

"This show has been being compared to The Wire, but it's actually two different subjects of drama. The Wire is a Police Drama, and however many tell of how [hood] it is; the reality of it is that it is indeed a police drama (I fell into the captivating appeal it had, and not too much later I ended up in the Ohio DRC, and since it's like been buried in the perspectives of law.). Power is, in dissent of what The Wire is, a Crime drama. I love it too, because the executive producer is the rapper 50, and once in his song lyrics he said, 'I watch movies and turn it off at the end, because the bad guy always dies.' The two are great shows, but one party [Police, criminal] can have an advantage, but luckily the series Power is what's being concentrated on contemporarily, and however controversial I hope it lasts for many seasons with 'Kanaan' still a character."

Waay too glossy to be taken seriously. Everyone is just so clean and shiny for crime figures. Maybe the storyline moves beyond the obvious motions I observed in the opener, but I just don't have time to find out with all the other quality premium cable offerings out there. Was hoping for something to fill the gap that the finale of Boardwalk Empire left, but this just left me disappointed.

This is a typical STARS production: a great deal of sex, profanity and very obvious plot twists with stereotypical characters. I didn't even bother watching the last three episodes. If I could give this a negative rating, I would. GARBAGE!
