New York Times and #1 international bestselling author Linwood Barclay delivers the second spine-chilling thriller set in the troubled town of Promise Falls, following the electrifying cliffhanger ending of Broken Promise ...

After the screen of a run-down drive-in movie theater collapses and kills four people, the daughter of one of the victims asks private investigator Cal Weaver to look into a recent break-in at her father's house. Cal discovers a hidden basement room where it's clear that salacious activities have taken place--as well as evidence of missing DVDs. But his investigation soon becomes more complicated when he realizes it may not be discs the thief was actually interested in....

Meanwhile, Detective Barry Duckworth is still trying to solve two murders--one of which is three years old--he believes are connected, since each featured a similar distinctive wound.

As the lies begin to unravel, Cal is headed straight into the heart of a dark secret as his search uncovers more startling truths about Promise Falls. And when yet another murder happens, Cal and Barry are both driven to pursue their investigations, no matter where they lead. Evil deeds long thought buried are about to haunt the residents of this town--as the sins of the past and present collide with terrifying results.

Linwood Barclay has written another great book. It's the 2nd book in his Promose Falls trilogy. The problem with trilogies is that you forget what happened in the previous book(s). I'm looking forward to the last book which is available now. Great read!

Soooooooooo riveting! Loved the characters - hated the sleezy characters so much I wanted bad things to happen to them! Linwood Barclay is such a great mystery fiction writer...can't get enough of his books...this is a trilogy...cannot wait to read the next book!

Far From True --- by --- Linwood Barclay.

For a small town in upstate New York, Pleasant Falls, the locale for Barclay`s ongoing novel, sure has its share of whackos, slime balls, and just plain murderers. There sure are a lot of murderers. For those readers who like to be a couple of pages ahead of the story this story is frustrating ``cause there`s a lot of things comin` out of left field that you just didn`t see comin`; makes for good readin` though. Now the ending, well its like someone tore a chapter out of the book. Reckon LB is just setting the stage for his next book. But pretty good and entertaining murder mystery none the less.

The trouble with trilogies is trying to remember what happened in the previous book. Once the characters were sorted out, the story continued with the many mysteries in Promise Falls. The introduction to the 3rd (and hopefully final) installment hinted that an evil individual is at play. Based on the statements made by the ex-mayor, I suspect he may have something to do with these terrible events (?)

Book #2 of the Promise Falls series turned out to be another great read by an author who I'd almost given up on. Short chapters told from various different perspectives, interesting characters, plus lots of twists and turns kept me reading this book for an entire day instead of actually getting stuff done. And because of the huge cliff hanger ending, I cannot wait until the final book of this trilogy comes out later this year.
