There is really no way to describe these novels based on Yoruba folktales. Funny, frightening, imaginative and bewitching.

Two of the seminal novels of 20th century African lit in one volume. Nigerian author Tutuola's best known novels are lyrical and surreal, blending a folk tale feel with an avant-garde disregard for logic and conventional plotting. Brian Eno & David Byrne famously lifted the title (My Life in the Bush) for their celebrated collaboration. Makes a fine companion piece to Achebe's "Things Fall Apart."
