There's only one word needed to describe this novel: absurd.

Typically Jonas Jonasson - I enjoy his tongue in cheek sense of humour. This was a far out adventure and I loved every turn it took.

Personally, I did not enjoy this book. In fact, I put it down about halfway through due to the lack of development in plot. Honestly, my expectations for this novel was also rather high as Jonasson wrote many other popular books. However, I found this one dry and bland.

This is a book you will either love or be so-so about. It continues the odd, quirky, 'and then this happened' style of his first book "The 100-year-old man who climbed out of the Window and Disappeared". I struggled through that one, feeling it was getting just too long and too ridiculous. I thought to try again, and found this book to be very much the same. However, I approached it with the attitude that this is a 'Fargo' in print. That did the trick. I cannot imagine Sweden having even one of these characters as a resident citizen but what do I know. Swedish entrepreneurs in a very unique business may be the norm there. Oddball black humour abounds in this novel, and although probably a bit too long, the story ends on just the right note of the meaning of it all. I wish I could rate it between three and four stars as it was pretty good in the imagination department but still a bit too off the wall for me.

Read half but couldn't finish. Was hoping it was going to get better but was very dissappointed. Not nearly as good as the 100 Year Old Man ............
