I decided to watch this movie, after finding out that Celine Dion helped promote this video. I was very impressed and actually watched it a couple of times. If you enjoy this should watch the music video on YouTube.

The story is based on the Québécois movie "La guerre des tuques" from the 1980s, a classic. My kids (4-7 yrs old) enjoyed all the action and laughed throughout. We watched the French version so I cannot comment on the English translation...

I was initially attracted to this movie because it had pleasant graphics, but bit by bit, it became blatantly obvious what a mediocre movie it was. The first sign was the music, which often did not match what was happening, but it wasn't this annoying, especially compared to what was to follow. What was more irksome was the stiff dialogue that resulted in many of the jokes sounding odd and falling flat. But the worse part was the fact that this movie suffers heavily from character immortality. Many, many of the characters should have had concussions, been hospitalized, or at least got some sort of scrape or twisted ankle. The characters were thrown off walls, slammed into trees, run over by sleds, and worst of all this was supposed to be viewed as comedy. The main character's friend should definitely be dead or seriously injured, considering everything that happened to him. Near the beginning of the movie, there was also a very cringe-worthy, gravity defying egg scene, which did nothing to add to the credibility of the film. Speaking of credibility, isn't it rather odd that in the final snow fight, there was only one major injury. One? There's pretty much an avalanche and among all the little Grade 1s and children, there is only one injury?

The main character also develops a crush on the girl in a pretty ridiculously short time, which leads to a very awkward kiss scene (and sheesh, they're only 11) after which they immediately argue about something and start another snow fight. How these completely contrasting feelings work together, I do not know.

In addition to all that, there was a severe lack of parental supervision though admittedly many children's movies suffer from that. Overall, I would suggest you to not waste your time on this movie.
