Compelling crime thriller. The good performances and interactions kept the tension high.

Another region 3 film when region 1 and blu-ray versions are widely available!

Anyway, chronicle of police actions and the ordeal of a kidnapped Hong Kong actor in Beijing over the course of about 20 hours. Did not care for the ending and the serendipitous discoveries during the investigation. But liked the dedication of the cops scarifying their personal lives to rescue the victim, Mr. Wu Ruofu in a real case in 2004, and the actor who played the leader of the abductor gang.

Apple is the fruit:
Zhang, I have a small request! I'd like an apple. "Apple" rhymes with "safe" in Chinese.
-This area is covered in apple trees, but there's no time.
I'm exhausted. Just because you wanted an apple, I had to run a whole kilometer.
-Couldn't you drive?
Zhang said not to drive during the day.
To buy guns and pay the rent!
- Why rent? To keep hostages! To ransom?
-And release them after payment?
Should I? I have to kill them.
-And bury them?
Bury them.
-And plant a peach tree on top? Or it plum or apricot trees?
An apple tree! But any tree will do.
Mum, I've settled down. No more trouble-making.
-Son, I feel so guilty for not raising you right.
No worries. Take care of yourself when I'm gone.
-Don't act the same in your next life
I wasn't one in this life, but I'll be a filial son in the next.
Everyone's lot in life is different. Some are born high, some are born low. One shouldn't complain, sometimes we make our own problems.
