The elephant, Earth's most charismatic and majestic land animal, today faces market forces driving the value of its tusks to levels once reserved for gold. This National Geographic special goes undercover to expose the criminal network behind ivory's supply and demand. It also demonstrates how the elephant, with its highly evolved society, keen intelligence, ability to communicate across vast distances and to love, remember and even to mourn, is far more complex than ever imagined.

When it comes to the merciless slaughter of African elephants for their ivory tusks (which are being carved into intricate works of art over in China) - I was absolutely appalled by the hypocritical attitude of those involved in this business who repeatedly hid behind the philosophy of Buddha, claiming that these butchered elephants should be happy to die, knowing that their tusks are being made into something beautiful to please man.

Can you believe this nonsense?

But, this is how these two-faced, double-talking fiends justify this regular massacre of elephants whose numbers have been brought drastically down to the level where they are now entered on the ever-growing list of endangered species of animals on this planet.

Yes. Sad - Very sad, indeed.

If you are someone who is genuinely concerned about the possible extinction of African elephants - Then - You will fully understand why the illegal Chinese ivory market must be put to an abrupt end, asap. (This is no joke)

Believe it, or not - 1000s of helpless elephants are being killed for their ivory tusks every year and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight to this horrific slaughter by dollar-hungry poachers.

I hope that this informative documentary from the National Geographic Society will, indeed, open up your eyes wide to the defenseless plight of elephants who certainly deserve much better than this.

The sad truth about people killing elephants for ornamental needs. Truly an eye openner, that in today's world some humans have no respect for these beautiful living creatures. Must see.

Definitely worth watching, and only 56 minutes long! The bonus material is mostly a re-hash of the main material so I recommend skipping it.
