A really lovely read aloud for winter -- great for introducing the concept of hibernation! It contains the same question and reply pattern as Bill Martin Jr.'s 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear' and his other similar titles, except the subject matter revolves around the type of animals that hibernate in winter. It's beautifully illustrated with two pages of brief animals facts at the end of the book.

Using a pattern similar to Bill Martin Jr.'s "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?", the title phrase is repeated throughout as animals are introduced to the reader. "Winter, winter, cold and snow; Chickadee, Chickadee, who do you know? I know Bear, asleep in her den; she might wake up when the sun shines in."
A good choice for storytime. Ages 3-6
