"A lavishly illustrated companion to Winston Graham's beloved Poldark novels, reissued as the new BBC series based on the novels is first broadcast. Graham's saga of Cornish life in the eighteenth century has enthralled readers throughout the world for seventy years and the wild landscapes that inspired the novels have - even today - remained relatively unchanged. Cornwall then was a perilous world of pirates and shipwrecks: of rugged coast and mysterious smugglers' coves, of windswept moors and picturesque villages such as Boscastle and Port Quin, and of beaches, tin mines and churches. With an introduction by Winston Graham's son, Andrew, and illustrated with stunning photographs, Poldark's Cornwall is a glorious evocation of the land of beauty, excitement, romance and imagination that Graham loved so well."--Publisher's description.

This is a discussion of the County of Cornwall with mentions of topography found in the Poldark series. It was may have been written by Winston Graham; but it doesn't have anything to do with the series.

I had hoped for more. "Poldark" is in the title, but the romance of the series is not in the book. Bottom line: much of the series is fictional, and cannot be found in reality, or on any map.

Unfortunately, Poldark's Cornwall is out of print in the United States. We're keeping our eye on it, and as soon as we are able, KCLS will add this book to the collection.

KCLS must order more copies of this book, since the current Poldark is seen every week on both area PBS stations!
