"A high stakes drama set against the harsh beauty of the Maine wilderness, charting the journey of four friends as they fight to survive the aftermath of a white water rafting accident, The River at Night is a nonstop and unforgettable thriller by a stunning new voice in fiction. Winifred Allen needs a vacation. Stifled by a soul-crushing job, devastated by the death of her beloved brother, and lonely after the end of a fifteen-year marriage, Wini is feeling vulnerable. So when her three best friends insist on a high-octane getaway for their annual girls' trip, she signs on, despite her misgivings. What starts out as an invigorating hiking and rafting excursion in the remote Allagash Wilderness soon becomes an all-too-real nightmare: A freak accident leaves the women stranded, separating them from their raft and everything they need to survive. When night descends, a fire on the mountainside lures them to a ramshackle camp that appears to be their lifeline. But as Wini and her friends grasp the true intent of their supposed saviors, long buried secrets emerge and lifelong allegiances are put to the test. To survive, Wini must reach beyond the world she knows to harness an inner strength she never knew she possessed. With intimately observed characters, visceral prose, and pacing as ruthless as the river itself, The River at Night is a dark exploration of creatures--both friend and foe--that you won't soon forget"--

Dove right in, easy, quick thriller! Quick read too, not too many pages. I couldn’t put it down!

A very satisfying adventure story. Four friends, on their annual weeklong getaway together, travel from Boston to the Maine wilderness for a whitewater rafting trip. Things go awry and while the poor protagonists suffer, the reader is in for a treat. If you like nature/survivor stuff and you've never gotten over the movie "Deliverance," this is a book for you.

This was a fast pace thriller about four friends who decide to go white water rafting in the middle of the Maine wilderness. I really enjoyed this novel because it had so many twists and turns. Not everyone makes it out alive. Great read for summer road trips.

This book was long winded, whiny, and written from the perspective of one of the most insufferable characters I've ever had the misfortune of reading about.

When I filtered a search for “scary books”, this one came up.
It’s not anywhere near scary. As a matter of fact, I don’t even think of it as a thriller.
I would consider it a book of 4 friends who experience bad luck. It’s not as if a raft has never capsized! But then it took a weird twist onto a different type of bad luck. Not thrillingly either.

I'm a Ruth Ware fan love all her books and when recommended this book i had to give it a try and I'm glad i did.Looked for more books by Erica Ferenik but this is her first and i hope she has something in the works for us that will be coming out soon. The River at Night was a real page turner and it's been awhile since I've read a book i just can't put down.

This book follow a group of female friends who find themselves in a perilous, isolated situation. The story moves quickly and I genuinely could not put the book down once the women found themselves on the river. Readers who like a little action and a little terror will enjoy this fast-paced thriller.

Easy to read book, however, it's very predictable. As I read it I was constantly reminded of the movie "Deliverance" except instead of 4 men on a canoe trip in the middle of nowhere, the book has 4 women in the same situation. Maybe because I've seen "Deliverance", I felt this book was completely unoriginal and too predictable.

Thriller about an outdoor adventure that becomes a nightmare for four unsuspecting woman trying to "find themselves". Started off really well then veer off into a unrealistic plot line. Very disappointed in plot line and characters.
