In this brilliant and inspiring graphic memoir, Harrison documents through comic illustration and short personal essays what it means to live with breast cancer. She confronts with heartbreaking honesty the crises of identity that cancer brings. She struggles to reconcile her long-term goals with an uncertain future, balancing the innate sadness of cancer with everyday acts of hope and wonder. She also examines those quiet moments of helplessness and loving with her husband, her family, and her friends, while they all adjust to the new normal.

I love the simplicity of this story. It is told straight from Ms. Harrison's heart. The short chapters make the book flow seamlessly and you get caught up in the story, the heartache and the hope.

I can't possibly imagine how Teva Harrison feels, to know that you are dying, possibly soon, and how. How do you get up each day, and continue trying to live your life to the fullest? With pain and difficulty and determination, it turns out. She touches on everything - the little everyday things that you might not consider, and the big... the hopes and feelings that you feel in this situation. This was a difficult read but I think that if someone else can live it, the least you can do is read it.

While it must have taken tremendous effort, and courage, for the author to create this, the drawings are rough, and the writing ordinary. There is little insight or personal revelation here, just a story of hope.
