Born (1933) in Tryon, North Carolina - (singer/pianist) Nina Simone (birth-name - Eunice Kathleen Waymon) is widely regarded as being one of the most influential female vocalists of the mid-20th century.

Active in the music business since 1954 - Simone's vocal versatility allowed her to be comfortable covering songs from different genres, such as - R&B, jazz, soul, folk, and pop.

This "Essential Collection" is a 2-disc set containing 29 tracks in all which were recorded by Simone (along with accompanying musicians) in the years from 1959-1993.

(*Be sure to check out the Nina Simone "Black Is The Color Of My True Love's Hair" music-video*)

*Note* - In 2003 - Nina Simone (70 at the time) died from breast cancer.

An essential album that actually has all the essential songs on it: a true blessing (just like Nina Simone's music).
