There a sense of consistency in this world by PKD, that suggests if the technologies were available, this is the way it would likely be. The power structures in society would exploit them very much the same way as the story unfolds.

Not the best, but good PKD, and is one of those novels which help establish his reputation as a key figure of postmodernism and hyperrealism.
