In Riding the Elephant, Craig regales readers with new essays, rendered in the voice fans have come to love. In lyrical prose that is at once hilarious and unexpectedly moving, he discusses his deep love for his native Glasgow, the psychological changes of fatherhood, and looks at ageing and mortality with a perspective that he was incapable of as a younger man. Each story is strung together in a colourful tapestry that ultimately reveals a complicated man and the personal progress he s made. For fans of Craig, comedy, and inventive storytelling, Riding the Elephant is a must-read memoir.

Ferguson is fantastic. I loved his tenure on the late-late show. He and I spent a lot of nights together. This book is wonderfully written, funny, laugh-till-you-cry funny, sad, scary sad, insightful and teachable moments are abundant. Thank you, kind sir.

I congratulate Craig Ferguson on his sobriety at a relatively young age, most individuals don't hit bottom until their late their late thirties or early forties. I got half- way through the book before losing interest due to his self-absorption. He is a complicated soul as are most comedians. His brilliance comes from a dark place that he has yet to conquer.

Good read!

This memoir reads much like I remember Craig Ferguson’s monologues on the Late, Late Show: by turns irreverent, thoughtful, hilarious, poignant, mildly off-putting, but always engaging. Sometimes I experienced all of those reactions in one entry. The book is not an autobiography but rather a sort of “lessons learned” and sometimes “deep thoughts” collection of essays in somewhat chronological order. I enjoyed reading it and found it sometimes quite thought provoking.

I agree! Especially if it is read by Craig himself!
